#Nanojoumo Day 3 - Fashionable

Fashionable

Ok, I really had fun with this one. I was looking through magazines for an image to use as collage fodder for this prompt when I happened upon this gorgeous page in Flow Magazine.  The paper in flow is very thin so I copied it on card stock because I wanted to paint the lady.  I used Derwent Inktense Block for painting and glitter gel pens for shading.  The shading process was color a line and then smear with finger while wet.  The background around my lady is painted with adirondack ink from an ink pad using stencil brushes.  The page that it is glued to was finger painted with acrylic paint.

One thing I like about Nanojoumo is the ability to use many different types of media while creating journal pages.

Until tomorrow.

This is wonderful, I love it! A bit of irony (is that the right term, perhaps a juxtaposition) occurred to me while reading your post. Your image is of an older woman (which I am fast becoming, lol) and your quote is about aging, but in your background you have finger-painted, which is fun and whimsical and a reminder of being young. Maybe I read too much into it, but I thought I would share what popped into my head. I really enjoyed your creation!

Thank you Kimberly. The beauty of art is what it inspires in the viewer. Your thoughts are so insightful. I love being able to incorporate coloring with painting. It is true mixed media. I will be 67 in two weeks and I try to keep a little whimsy in my life as I age.
